We started filming the first scene,and I was actually doing pretty well at arresting someone in a TINY little dress(could have been a swimsuit) and 4 inch heels….At this point it is important to point out that when you’re filming, the lights make you feel so warm and toasty that one might not feel a slight temperature change or drafts of air(REMEMBER THIS IN A SECOND)…BACK TO THE STORY:We did a second pass/take and I hear ” GOOD. AND CUT”, followed by an unknown voice saying ” I SEE CHEEKS”…’I.SEE.CHEEKS’-huh….someone must need a touch up on their makeup or maybe it’s a lighting term…I was going over all of the possibilities, when the main lady in wardrobe said ” UMMM…It’s YOUR CHEEKS…Can I get some double-stick tape?!?”.

Chatter on set:”No she doesn’t need the double-stick tape”, and others said “Hey it’s not for HBO!”.*Laughter* To say that I was prepared for this would be a HUGE lie…I danced in a ballet company,I had SLIGHT malfunctions with wardrobe…..But let me tell you that NOTHING ever prepares you for the moment that your butt cheeks flash a cast and crew of brilliant,award-winning people.I wanted to blurt out ” I’M SO SORRY…”, or try to laugh it off and go “JUST BEING TRUE TO THE HOOKER SIDE OF MY ROLE”….I also maybe wanted to run off of that set…. Then I thought:”Who in Hollywood HASN’T had this happen?”. A quick,”Oh—oops.That’s embarrassing”,followed by a good laugh seemed to be the cure. The next day, I showed up and actually was given a line by the writers(Again,thank you to one writer in particular-you know who you are) and director…People remembered who I was, and were unbelievably kind to me…The wardrobe ladies offered me a robe(robes are truly coveted on set,as I now know,so it was truly meaningful-AND WARM.)Everyone began to refer to me as ‘Dallas’,instead of ‘Hannah’…This of course allowed me to create a backstory for my undercover agent…Her hooker name is ‘Dallas Cheeks’…I know what you’re thinking,and you’re right…it’s a pretty amazing hooker name. When I called my mom that night to give her a recap of everything the call went something like this,”Hey Mom, guess what? I ended up getting a more featured role as an undercover FBI Agent.They didn’t double-stick tape me yesterday,so I flashed everyone.BUT-today I got a speaking role…”My mom laughed.When I was recapping the series of events with one of the writers on the show(along with the phone conversation to my mom)she looked at me and said the closing line to this story should be, “Welcome to Hollywood Baby”.

The Couch Tour 2011

So- I rented this fantastic apartment in Hollywood…I mean truly fantastic…It was in a prime location.You could swim up to one side of the swimming pool and watch a movie,or go steam away your stress from being stuck in traffic in the dry sauna…Truthfully,I wouldn’t have been one bit surprised if they told me Willy Wonka’s factory was in the basement of the building….However,24 hours before I was scheduled to take over my dream apartment,I received a call from a new leasing agent(apparently my leasing agent was on vacation…how convenient) who proceeded to inform me:”Hi-I’m calling about your lease…Unfortunately the current tenant has decided to re-sign his lease,which he CAN do under California state law,though I know this might be a little upsetting…umm…so we can’t offer you THAT apartment;BUT I can offer you 60 sq.feet less for $200 more.How does that sound?”

How did that sound.?!?You know the scene in ‘Father of The Bride’ where Steve Martin’s character says “I’d like the chipper(cheaper)chicken”?THAT is EXACTLY what I wanted to say to this girl.Instead,I forced myself to snap back to reality and politely say:”I’m sorry…Someone was already living in this apartment?I MUST have hallucinated,because did you just say 60 Square feet LESS and $200 MORE?Truthfully,would YOU take that ‘deal’?” YEAH…Needless to say,I went straight to the regional manager for the entire corporation,and was refunded my deposit immediately.

Pleased as I should have been with my minuscule victory,I was now scheduled to start working on a project within a week,my furniture had already been shipped,and oh yeah—-I was quite literally HOMELESS.

This state of homelessness prompted me to frantically email several people,who went on to pass the email with my need for a place or couch to crash,on to everyone they knew…The email was switched from my casual/peppy title of “Moving”(I hated to sound desperate)to “THE COUCH TOUR 2011”.It’s quite possible that HALF of the writers and Actors in LA received and passed on that email…THAT’s how truly fantastic the people in my life are…No stone unturned. VERY FORTUNATELY,I have an amazing cousin who allowed me to crash on the couch at her apartment that she shares with 5 other roommates…I stayed there for almost 2 weeks.Days and nights just blurred together.During that time:the project I was rushing out to get started on was delayed(Story of LA),I ended up actually getting a small role on a pilot for a tv show(I won’t say your name if you don’t want me to,but THANK YOU to the lady who’s last name rhymes with Wyatt—-I still owe you dinner and drinks!),And MOST IMPORTANTLY- I found an apartment…Then I flew back to Texas to get my car(And my guitar),and drove across the desert without really stopping.Big thank you to everyone that helped me during the Couch Tour 2011…Also-if any of you do decide to drive across the desert without stopping,might I suggest taking 40,Or as I affectionately refer to it “The Starbucks Route”.Caffeine or ‘The Joshua Tree’?!?You know the answer.
